RESUMO
En el presente escrito nos proponemos tomar como disparador el capítulo 6 de la segunda temporada de la serie "New Amsterdam", titulado: "Righteous Right Hand". En el mismo, varias mujeres son heridas cuando la camioneta en la que viajaban a un encuentro religioso sufre un accidente. Entre ellas se encuentra Shauntee, una adolescente con Síndrome de Down que al llegar al hospital y ser revisada por sus lesiones se entera de que está embarazada y expresa el deseo de que se le practique un aborto. El conflicto emerge en relación a la voluntad de Shauntee y su tutora legal, Kaye, quién sustentada en su creencia religiosa, se opone a la interrupción del embarazo. A partir del dilema que esta escena plantea, se realizará un análisis en torno a la sexualidad en personas con discapacidad intelectual y su autonomía ante la toma de decisiones respecto de su propio cuerpo y el respeto de su voluntad
In this writing we propose to take as a trigger chapter 6 of the second season of the series "New Amsterdam", entitled: "Righteous right hand".In it, several women are injured when the van in which they were traveling to a religious gathering suffers an accident. Among them is Shauntee, a teenager with Down Syndrome who - upon arriving at the hospital and being checked for her injuries - finds out that she is pregnant and expresses the desire for an abortion. The conflict emerges in relation to Shauntee's will and her legal guardian, Kaye, who, based on her religious belief, opposes the arrest of the pregnancy. Based on the dilemma that this scene raises, an analysis will be carried out on sexuality in people with disabilities and their autonomy in making decisions about their own body and respecting their will
